All the areas around this national monument have petrified wood. You can park in the gift shops and see much more easily and cooler. That being said it is still fun to see them on the Crystal Forest trail as you haven't gotten to the end of the park with them right at the visitor center or the gift shops. If you start from that end then you see it all right away.
