A brake fixing we will go...

We blew out the water lines before the first freeze but were lazy and didn't get out all the battery items out or do the deep clean for winter storage. So we decided to get it done this last weekend. Unfortunately our brake light was on and the brake pedal went to the floor with no resistance. Fortunately a call to our Good Sam's Platinum roadside assistance has a tow truck winging their way to the RV to get it towed to a local repair place. Crossing our fingers on the cost for the fix but good brakes are important so this wasn't a do it yourself job.

Edit: It turned out to be a bad master cylinder. The part was only $71 but the whole repair was $531.

2nd edit: We picked up the RV and the brakes work great but there is a high pitched whine to the engine that was not there before. I'm going to call them tomorrow to see if they have an idea of what could be causing it. If they took belts off or anything that may be the cause.

Curt Gowdy hiking

We got up bright and early to hike a little before heading home to watch the Broncos game. It was a very pretty day. The previous day had been overcast with some light showers so we were happy to see the sun.

The trails had many different types of terrain. This one is a horse trail.
This one was a mountain biking trail but we didn't see any riders.
Very nice trails throughout this park.
We got to see some nice fall colors.
 Pretty yellows and oranges.
 Fall is my favorite season.
The pups pose for a picture.
 But they prefer exploring.

We did only a very short hike and then headed back to the campground to head for home.
The way back goes between the end of crow creek and the reservoir.
One last pic. and we are off.

Curt Gowdy Park - Crow Creek Trail

Crow Creek Trail is wonderful for someone missing hiking in the east. You hike in a wooded area along a creek. Then through a rocky area and back to the woods again. The dogs waiting for their hike.

Blossom is looking for wildlife.

They take a long time says Sunshine.

You can see the reservoir in the background at the beginning of the hike.

It was very pretty.

And actually went all along a creek.

 The fall colors were starting.

We crossed over the creek via some bridges several times.

It was a beautiful trail.

We came to a rocky section. The dogs loved it!

The end of the trail was into some rocks. These were advertised as 'Hidden Falls'. They were very well hidden. The rocks were all I saw.

It was equally as pretty walking back along the trail.

Back at the campground the sun is setting, the fish are jumping and the people are fishing. The water was so clear you could see the fish.
Sunshine says where is my dinner?

Curt Gowdy State 2nd time

There are more trails at Curt Gowdy Wyoming State Park than can be done in one weekend so we headed back to hike some more. There were many reservoir side sites. We picked one and settled in.

The view across the reservoir from our site.
The next site over. It was close but no one camped there.

Curt Gowdy State Park

Curt Gowdy State Park in Wyoming is 2 hours from our house in Denver. So after a summer of intense heat and forest fires that kept us from using the RV we decided to venture forth this fall as the temperatures cooled down. What a cool place! I can't believe I didn't know about it sooner. Almost all the sites are on the two reservoirs. We chose Crystal Reservoir for our first night.

The pups wait for us to get level.

We want to go hiking!

Behind our site things are a bit bare. But were off the main road a bit and get some shade during the day so we are happy.

There was a boat launch near our site. The reservoirs are popular for boating and fishing.

Our first hike is to explore around the reservoir.

We hike up to the dam and then part way on one of the trails. However we didn't bring flashlights so have to head back as the sun sets. The reservoir was excellent for star gazing at night because the city light of Cheyenne and Laramie were far away.

The next day we go around the reservoir. I estimated it would be between 5 and 6 miles. We brought 4 bottles of water. Unfortunately we weren't paying much attention and the water we bought was in much smaller bottles than normal.

This is on a trail with many ups and downs. It is designated as an expert level mountain biking trail. However we saw no one on it at all. I do not think it would be popular with mountain bikers because of all the places you would have to carry your bike. However it is an excellent hiking trail if you don't mind alot of ups and downs.

This is the view of the dam access road. You can see we've hiked quite a long way behind the dam. We've also just crossed the access road at the bottom where the river used to run before it was dammed.

This is the view of the back of the dam that we saw the day before from the front. Were now back up higher again.

At the end of the hike you spend some time going round some finger offshoots to the reservoir. It is at this point you wish for a bridge.

Unfortunately we got a late start on our hike so were hiking from 9 until noon. Even though it was cool out the sun was too intense and I got a head ache. Because I couldn't shake it we came back home and will have to try this reservoir out again on another day.
