Arches National Park

Arches National Park is very popular. I did not care for it. They  have really smelly pit toilets which in this day and age of pit toilet technology is not acceptable. I think I was also affected by rock, sun and desert overload. We had been watching the temperatures in Moab and picked this week specifically because the highs were in the high 60s and low 70s. Thankfully that was the case so the dogs were very comfortable with the windows down.
Ranger led activities that we didn't do but I would have liked to. When your not staying on site it is harder to do these sorts of things.

1st stop on the tour. We rented the CD tour. It wasn't that great but better than nothing.

Nice rocks.

Pretty rocks.

Dogs are not allowed except on paved areas, picnic areas and dirt roads.

Rock that the boy scouts fear will fall on someone so they will probably have to come knock it down.

Dogs on dirt road near first restroom stop. Single pit toilet available.

One of many arches.

It wasn't too long before I was tired of arches. The visitor center had nice displays on how they were created and the usual national park service movie. I always enjoy the visitor center at a park.

We should have split the park into two days as we did not have the time or energy to see everything.

Dogs at a picnic area.

Very pleased that they get to do something.

Underside of an arch.
As it got toward dinner time we called it a day and headed into Moab for dinner where we had a spectacularly bad meal. All in all Arches and Moab were ho-hum for me but I loved our campground and the scenery along 128. If your coming in from Colorado or going out to Colorado take 128 for the scenic drive.
