We scored again in choosing to visit El Morro National Monument. This is a big rock that would collect rain water and people crossing the area would come here and sign their names. Tons of history involved in this place. Even though it was hot the trail was short and everything was easy to see.

Path to the rock. |

Pool at base of rock. Not as it was originally as it was redone to make it deeper. |
Would love to see a picture of it before it was redone but they had none at the visitor center.

They had lots of great inscriptions and signatures. The visitor center loans out a guide that translates some of the Spanish ones or gives history on the people. |
One of the park supervisors erased a bunch of signatures after 1906 so there are many blank spaces where people had signed their name. I think some of the older ones were 3 or 4 hundred years old. But eventually they will all wear away.
