I gotta admit, so far I'm not impressed with CO state parks. We usually don't stay at them because they often don't allow dogs on the trails but this year we bought the yearly pass to encourage ourselves to give them a try. So far, not impressed.
We picked Yampa River State Park because of the electric connections to allow us to run our AC to combat the heat. This park is only good for an overnight to break up your drive. Nothing much here and no real riverfront to enjoy.

On our way to this park all of a sudden our roof AC stopped working. Panic set in. We were headed into some very hot areas. We pulled over, and found the plug in the electric bay a little pulled out. Pushed it back in and everything worked perfectly for the rest of the trip. Phew!
